I love you

21dianaEveryone gets caught in those dreaded, awkward ‘social situations’ in real as well as virtual life. The advent of mushrooming social media channels have only increased the probability of getting caught online. Personal scouting of popular social media platforms reveals different, often funny, sometime embarrassing, things on a regular basis. ‘I love you’ is one of the tackiest situations users come across often online?

“I love you” (or million versions of this most abused phrase on the Internet) is the currency of the day at social media playground extensively inhabited by young and old nitizens alike. Sometime this comes too soon, or by accident but mostly it is conscious effort because ‘what is the harm in trying.’ It can happen when both sides know each other, meet regularly or are complete strangers, with no chances of meeting ever.

Readers can recognize those ambiguous statuses (flames) posted for the consumption of one targeted persons. The only one person who would ever comment on them will be that target person. Couples engaged in online love would always commemorate every humdrum moment with tacky displays of affection; pretty much just stupid and awful. Effort will be to be available online every time of day and night (via web or may be smart phones). Sometime they will go to pointless lengths to show their love to a particular person driving everyone else insane. At least one of them is always excited while the other may be embarrassed. And situations that are one sided love will remind readers of Punjabi axiom کہنا دھی نوں، تے سنانا بہو نوںں . Their statuses make readers feel weird about what ‘love’ actually means.

It does have elements of humor splashed liberally around just to make it a fun read, too. Of course, one wonders why some people feel obligated to indulge in their uncomfortable endearments in public. Worst is when you don’t find a way to get out of any such situation.

  1. A very interesting post and a must at the moment. Online love is becomming so popular these days that as you say ” I LOVE YOU” has become a word with out value. Online love does exist when you find people with mutual understanding and caring with a strong friendship may eventually lead to a relationship and may end in marriage. But most online love affairs are just a time pass to both parties and I think long distance relationships need lot of hard work and it gets even harder when it’s between two strangers.

But as I say online love does exist and mature people know how to face it but the youngsters get caught up in this and they misunderstand attration for love and would lead to unwanted situations which would harm their image and reputation.

So when these three words come out next time on cyber it is worth to think what it really means and how true those words appy into ones life.
