Blogging doesn’t pay anymore

If you are a pro blogger, you are trying to make some money from your blogs and you are not connected to corporate world, chances are that you are not making enough to pay your bills (if you are lucky to make enough, let me know). It is good if blogging is part of your day job and you get paid anyway. But going gets tough if you are an  independent bloggers and free lancers.

More so when major search engines like Google has been de-indexing blogs and websites that have been paying to get links in the recent past. This exercise may (or may not) have improve search result but bloggers have been deprived of those paid postings and paid links on their blog rolls (selling link juices) that provided them some compensation for creating online buzz.

I am m a writer, first and foremost (ok, ok, every blogger is a writer), but some of the bloggers write just because writing is like second nature to them and some people just write because writing is a condition for blogging. To some words fill each day with joy, and make them feel connected to the people around, and they love nothing more than spilling those words out onto the blogs and sharing them with others.

Problem is for corporate bloggers with focus on business instead of on the creative part. For this category, love for technology, tech stuff and social media is just not enough. I think other bloggers who began their blogs around the same time when I did (in 2004) feel the same way. Blogging to keep in touch with family and friends, as a new way of commmunicating, to document lives as they unfold and so many other reasons people use to have are simply not good enough now when blogs have come full circle.

When there is no such thing as monetization, sponsored posts or branding, what are the choices right now; keep sticking to blogging as a means to making money in future, or be happy to be a writer in the world of blogging and keep showing blogs as a reflection of a way things are?

There’s never a right time’ for anything . There is alayws something else we should be doing, could be doing Our kids need us all the time, but balanced kids learn that sometimes Moms need alone-time’, and its good for them to see us respecting oursleves. That’s better for them to learn then for them to learn to be a martyr, and to give up their needs for other’s. And you need to sometimes just BE there for them, without actually DOING something for them. The right time for anything is when its right for YOU! Love that couch!!
